In the Polish Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Warsaw, Trębacka Street 4, a conference "Innovative concepts of human resources management. The Polish Standard Employment Fair Play 2007" has been held. It featured the presentation of the main ideas of the "Employment Fair Play" project, together with implementation results for the Polish Standard Employment Fair Play 2007 devised by the Institute′s team. The conference has been a conclusion of over 2 years of work on the "Employment Fair Play" project, which was co-financed by the European Social Fund and EQUAL Community Initiative. The invited guests included the representatives of Polish government, the Members of Parliament, entrepreneurs, as well as the representatives of the business associations and business environment institutions.

In November and December2007, a cycle of seminars for the local administration has been held, on "The investment in human resources in local administration as a factor of strengthening economic development"

The seminars were focused on the presentation of the polish standard "Employment Fair Play", prepared within a project co-financed by the European Social Fund and EQUAL Community Initiative

A cycle of promotional meetings on the 7th edition of "Community Fair Play" Programme has commenced. The first seminar, entitled "Community Fair Play - a Programme of Strengthening the Communities′ Competitiveness" has been organized in the Town Hall of Koszalin.

On 21 October 2007, 11 A.M. in the Polish Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Warsaw, 4 Trębacka Street, a conference: "Advocacy on local and regional level. Building the monitoring and consultation system on SME policy" was held. It featured a presentation of the rules for monitoring the local legislation, best ways to stimulate the local communities (including the entrepreneurs and business associations) to work on drafting strategic documents and enterprise development programmes, as well as the ways to engage local stakeholders to cooperate on the community promotion strategies and other initiatives in favour of local development. The conference was organised by the Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy and among the participants were the representatives of local authorities, entrepreneurs, business associations, NGOs and social partners - including the beneficiaries of the experimental implementation of the monitoring system and the rules of social consultations. The conference was organised within the framework of the project: "Advocacy on local and regional level. Building the monitoring and consultation system on SME policy" co-financed by the EU within the programme "Strengthening advocacy and consultation activities" - component 2, ref. no. PL 2004/016- 829.01.02.02 , which is a part of Transition Facility 2004 programme "Increasing social awareness and strengthening role of non-governmental organizations (NGO) in advocacy and monitoring", agreement No. 8174/JFK/PPt-DV/2006-TF2004/016-829.01.02.02/RM/47).


18 October 2007

On 18 and 19 October 2007 in the Congress and Conference Centre in Warsaw (9 Bobrowiecka Street), workshops have been held for the local authorities on the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility rules in the local and regional territorial units. During the meeting, the organisers presented Polish and EU-countries best practices on social consultation of local and regional policies, as well as the rules of monitoring the local legislation. The workshop session is a part of the project "Advocacy on local and regional level. Building the monitoring and consultation system on SME policy", co-financed by the EU.


5 October 2007

The grand gala of the 6 th edition of the "Community Fair Play" - Certified Investment Location Programme took place on 5th October 2007. The gala was held in the Concert Hall in the Palace of Culture of Science in Warsaw. During the official presentation of the communities which fulfilled all of the programme requirements, their representatives were also awarded prizes, special distinctions and the certificates "Community Fair Play" - Certified Investment Location.


27 September 2007

On 27 September 2007, 11 A.M. in the Polish Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Warsaw, 4 Trębacka Street, a press-conference was organised. Its aim was to summarise the effects of the experimental implementation of the human resources management standard "Employment Fair Play" in 8 Polish companies. "Employment Fair Play" - Promotion of business culture and labour market ethics is a project co-financed by the EQUAL Community Initiative.

In the Polish Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Warsaw, 4 Trębacka Street, a press-meeting with the representatives of local authorities and their associations was organised, on the public consultation of local legislation with the social partners. The meeting was organised as a part of the project: "Advocacy on local and regional level. Building the monitoring and consultation system on SME policy", co-financed by the EU within the programme "Strengthening advocacy and consultation activities" - component 2, ref. no. PL 2004/016- 829.01.02.02 , which is a part of Transition Facility 2004 programme "Increasing social awareness and strengthening role of non-governmental organizations (NGO) in advocacy and monitoring", agreement No. 8174/JFK/PPt-DV/2006-TF2004/016-829.01.02.02/RM/47). During the meeting, best Polish and EU practices on local policy consultations, as well as the proposed rules of monitoring local authorities and influencing local policy by the stakeholders have been presented. The meeting was orgniased by the Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy.


6 September 2007

A meeting of the Awarding Committee of the "Community Fair Play" programme was organised, to decide on the list of laureates of the "Community Fair Play" 2007 main prizes - statuettes, distinctions, titles and certificates. The information on the results has been sent to all participants by mail.


25 June 2007

A meeting of members and supporters of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice was organised, entitled "Kluska′s Package - an opportunity for the entrepreneurs". During the meeting, the main theses of Kluska′s Package were presented, together with the Institute′s project: "Advocacy on local and regional level. Building the monitoring and consultation system on SME policy", co-financed by the EU within the programme "Strengthening advocacy and consultation activities" - component 2, ref. no. PL 2004/016- 829.01.02.02 , which is a part of Transition Facility 2004 programme "Increasing social awareness and strengthening role of non-governmental organizations (NGO) in advocacy and monitoring", agreement No. 8174/JFK/PPt-DV/2006-TF2004/016-829.01.02.02/RM/47). The meeting was organised by the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice.

Corporate Social Responsibility - best practice
The Austrian Institiute for SME Researchhas been implementing, together with six European Partners, a research project "CSR and Competitiveness - European SMEs' Good Practice". The aim of this project is to analyse the correlations between the competitiveness and Corporate Social Responsibility, as well as to identify Best Practices, illustrating the CSR activity that strengthens the SME competitiveness. In the course of the project a series of research has been conducted on the CSR in SME-sector companies in the participating countries. The case studies from these countries have been gathered in 7 country reports, as well as in the final report. The Polish partner of the project has been the Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Research Institute. We encourage you to read the report on CSR in Poland. A conference entitled: "CSR and business ethics" was held in the Marshal Office of Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship. During the meeting were presented the results of IPED researches, which show benefits for companies from being social responsible. There were also presented best CSR practices of "Business Fair Play" laureates. Conference was organized by Office of the Marshal of Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship and "Business Fair Play" Program Office.


17 May 2007

In Estoril Congress Centre (Portugal) was held a conference summarising 2 years of work within 2 ACCESS Partnership, which was created within EQUAL projects, realised by representatives of 4 countries: Poland, Portugal, Italy and United Kingdom. Main aim of partnership was identification of discrimination and existing barriers on labour market, and building up effective instruments and mechanisms which are able to eliminate those barriers. During the conference particular mechanisms and general results of work were presented. Poland was represented by "Employment Fair Play" project representatives.

PL 2004/016-829.01.02.02 which is a part of Transition Facility 2004 program "Increasing social awareness and strengthening role of non-governmental organizations (NGO) in advocacy and monitoring". Anticipated completion of the project - 30.11.2007.

A meeting about legislation process in Poland and ways of putting into force changes improving quality of legislation was held in Polish Chamber of Commerce. It was organized with participation of politicians, entrepreneurs and media. During the meeting which is a part of a project entitled "Building Fair Legislation Practices - Closing Space for Corruption in Business Operations" were presented the results of research conducted among entrepreneurs and a "Code of Fair Legislation Practices" containing propositions of changes in present legislation procedures and also some indications which can help to make transparent law. Meeting was organised by Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy.

A conference "Fair legislation practices as a basis of economic growth and business development. Ways of cooperation between public authorities and social partners" was held. It was organized to summarize project entitled "Building Fair Legislation Practices - Closing Space for Corruption in Business Operations" co-financed by the European Commission, Directorate - General Justice, Freedom and Security (agreement no. JLS/NGO/2004/058-30-CE-0043190/00-38). During the conference "Code of Fair Legislation Practices" and a report "Fair Economic Legislation Practices. Worldwide experiences and ability to adaptation them into Polish conditions" were presented.

A seminar: "Implementation of ethical standards in Polish legislation procedures" directed i.a. to ministries employees (legislators) was organized in the Polish Chamber of Commerce, Warsaw. It is a part of a project entitled "Building Fair Legislation Practices - Closing Space for Corruption in Business Operations" co-financed by the European Commission, Directorate - General Justice, Freedom and Security (agreement no. JLS/NGO/2004/058-30-CE-0043190/00-38). During the seminar were presented i.a. best legislation practices in selected OECD countries and "Code of Fair Legislation Practices" created by Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy in cooperation with Institute of Business Ethics in London.
